Garlic and Mango Festival Returns to The River Café

Back again for the 5th year, the famous "Garlic and Mango Festival". Featuring a course dinner for only $249.00 available from June 1 until July 31. 

Our menu includes a welcome Mango Margarita or Mango Mojito. A complimentary starter captures the essence of the festival. Indulge your senses as you spread the warm, roasted garlic on top of freshly baked crostini then spoon over the slightly spicy mango chutney.

Appetizer choices include Double Garlic Cream of Potato Soup with a Chipotle aioli or a Tossed Caesar with anchovy and garlic dressing.

An array of alternatives for the main course, Penne with Roasted Garlic; Pancetta and Peas tossed with a velvety garlic Alfredo sauce; Filet Mignon marinated in fresh garlic, rosemary and thyme, then grilled to perfection, served with roasted garlic mashed potatoes and seared asparagus; Grilled Chicken Breast with 40 clove garlic sauce, served with savory steamed vegetables and roasted garlic mashed potatoes; or Stacked Shrimp al Pastor arranged over roasted pineapple and cilantro risotto with a mango reduction sauce.

For dessert? Brandy-glazed fresh cut Mango over smooth Vanilla Ice Cream.

Every year, the month of May brings Vallarta Restaurant Week, a 17-day gastronomical celebration that gives everyone the opportunity to dine at their favorite Banderas Bay area restaurants (or try new ones) with savings of up to 50%!

From May 15th-31st, for the eighth year in a row, some of the most recognized restaurants in Puerto Vallarta will once again be offering special three-course menus, with three choices per course, at fixed prices of either $189 or $299 pesos, not including beverages or gratuities.

Forty-five restaurants will participate in this year's edition of one of Puerto Vallarta’s most important culinary events, an increase from last year’s 38 participants. Many venues will also feature live entertainment to enhance your dining pleasure.

Restaurant Week is eagerly anticipated by locals and gourmet aficionados from around the globe who plan an annual pilgrimage to Puerto Vallarta specifically for this delicious festival. BIOGRAFIA KARLA MORALES

Hasta el momento, la más reconocida Chef mujer en Puerto Vallarta, es nuestra apreciada Karla Morales, nacida en San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas. Cuyo amor por la cocina surgió años atrás, donde ella recuerda a su abuela paterna usando el fogón, el metate y la agradable impresión que en ella causaba verla cocinar.

Con la inquietud que siempre le causó el gusto por la cocina, estudió la Licenciatura de Gastronomía en la Cd. De Puebla y ahí mismo obtuvo su primer trabajo, en el Restaurant “1800” preparando comida típica poblana. Pero su interés iba más allá y buscando una oportunidad alrededor de nuestro País, fue como llegó a Puerto Vallarta.
Nuestro Corporativo tuvo la fortuna de encontrarla hace aproximadamente 5 años, durante los cuales transformó creativamente la especialidad de nuestro Restaurant Mestizo, combinando las texturas, para lograr esos deliciosos sabores de la Cocina Mexicana Contemporánea. Y después de todo este tiempo donde estuvo recolectando excelentes comentarios de los clientes, y acostumbrada a afrontar nuevos retos, actualmente se encuentra colaborando en The River Café, retocando nuestros platillos internacionales, como solo ella sabe hacerlo.

KARLA MORALES BIOGRAPHY

So far, the most outstanding girl Chef in Puerto Vallarta, is our dear Karla Morales, who was born in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas. Her passion for cooking comes from time ago, when she remembers her grandmother using the old stove, metate, and the enjoyable impression of watching her cooking. 

With the anxiety and love that she always felt about cooking, she studied the Bachelor of Cuisine in Puebla City, there she had her first job at the “1800” Restaurant, preparing typical food of the region. But her interest was out of limits and she looked for an opportunity around México, she found one in Puerto Vallarta.
Fortunately our Company found her about 5 years ago, during which she transformed creatively our Restaurant Mestizo Specialty, mixing textures, achieving those delicious flavors of the Mexican Contemporary Cuisine. And after all this time where she was gathering rave reviews from customers, and used to face new challenges, she is currently working at The River Café, giving her touch to our international dishes, as only she knows how.

Vallarta Voted Favorite Beach Destination in Mexico

Puerto Vallarta again ranks as one of the winning Reader’s Choice destinations on the popular website About.com.  Puerto Vallarta was previously awarded “Most Romantic Place in Mexico 2012" and has now won the category of “Favorite Beach Destination in Mexico”.

This recognition is awarded by the readers of the popular site About.com, founded in 1996, which is one of the most important and busiest sites among Americans, that has more than 46 million unique visitors monthly and is recognized as one of the Top Ten sites within the USA due to its broad content and accuracy on various topics such as health, technology, food, travel and more.

Competing within the category of favorite beaches in Mexico were Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Huatulco, Los Cabos and Riviera Maya and the voting took place from February 22 to 21 March 2012, Puerto Vallarta has also become one of the favorite destinations for romance, proven by the thousands of weddings performed in Vallarta each year, and the recent awarding of “Most Romantic Place in Mexico 2012 “by users of the site About.com

In 2011, Puerto Vallarta won the title of "Friendliest City in the World", as chosen by readers of the prestigious magazine Condé Nast.  In 2010, Vallarta was named "Best Place to Retire in the World" by the AARP (American Association of Retired Persons).

That same year, the city was named "Best Holiday Destination in Mexico" by USNews.com.
